I recently had the opportunity to produce, film, and edit another episode of the Tell Me podcast, hosted by Sam Stokes.

In this conversation, Sam sits down with professional tuba player and doctoral candidate Cameron Holt for a discussion that explores far more than just a musical instrument. Together, they dive into the history of the tuba, the evolution of orchestral music, the relationship between technology and art, and what it means to dedicate yourself to mastering a craft.

Passion is contagious when someone truly loves what they do.

One of my favorite things about this episode is how approachable it is. You don’t need a background in classical music to enjoy it. Cameron’s enthusiasm for music is contagious, and Sam’s curiosity helps uncover fascinating connections between history, performance, creativity, and innovation.

Along the way, they discuss everything from the invention of the tuba in the 1800s to the changing size of orchestras, how instruments evolve over time, and why musicians can spend a lifetime refining their understanding of a single instrument.

What makes Tell Me unique is the reminder that expertise exists everywhere. Sometimes the most engaging conversations come from people who have spent years pursuing something most of us rarely stop to think about.

I’m grateful to have played a small part in bringing this episode to life. Check out the full conversation below and let me know what you think.
